museum trip

I didn't go to choir today because we went to the museum!!
no..i didn't deliberately pon..in fact, i sacrificed CCA day for my testimonial just for this trip ok..
i dunno the exact name of the museum..bt it's the one opposite SMU..
there's this exhibit of actual ancient greek artefacts and artwork from paris's museum..

the wallpaper we saw when we stepped into the exhibition hall..
this is the map of greece..spot athens! no prize for spotting..

oh..i jus took pix cos' the first guy has a limb short, and the 2nd guy has no nose..hahaha..

this is the greek version of the animal sang nila utama saw..
no..joking..i dunno wat this lion symbolise..lazy to read..hahaha..

ok..shall be a good GP rep..
these are some of the philosophers we come across during GP.
in case ur pajiao and can't see, they are socrates, plato, aristotle in sequence.
if you believe in socrates' questioning philosophy thingy, im warning you..it may cause your death..
apparently, socrates questioned so much that he irritated some pple esp the rich so much that he was poisoned to death..
moral of the story: do not incur the wrath of the rich and powerful.
see..philosophy is not always good for you..

oh! wat's the first thing that comes to your mind??
they actually remind me of the 3 singing heads in the movie "the haunted mansion"!
you know..? the old old comedy starring Eddie murphy?? no? ulu..
anyway..the last guy's alexandra the great; and he's gay.

i forgot her name..that's the prob with greek names..they are too long and complicated to rmb..hahaha..
well..i dun think you can see, but she's holding a basket containing the head of medusa..
you know..the monster with snakes on her head and if she sees you, you will turn to stone..?? ok..maybe this will jot your memory..

this greek goddess provided this guy- perseus (if i didn't spell wrongly) with a shield and sth else and perseus managed to kill medusa and present her head to the goddess..
gross..

this is some wall art carved out of stone..
believe me..the myth behind this carving is senseless..
note: all the pple are greek gods and goddesses
the guy on the far left tried to rape one of the women in the carving..
and i think he failed..anyway..the woman wiped away his semen with cotton and threw it on the ground(earth)
according to greek mythology, the earth is a living thing..if im not wrong, the lady holding the baby is the earth goddess..
anyway, the semen fell onto goddess earth and she gave birth to this baby, put it in a basket and asked a princess to never open it.
bt the stupid princess did and was shoked to see that it's half snake half human and went mad..
the baby was half snake half human cos it's brought up by snakes.

see my point? why is it half snake just cos it's brought up by snakes?!
genetically it's got nth to do with the snakes!
urgh..nonsense..or maybe it's cos i dunno enuf about the myth..haha..
but blame everything on that litter bug goddess..

this is the greek goddess of love..i forgot her name bt it sounded like aphrodisiac..hahaha..
she's supposed to look seductive bt some french thought that the original sculpture was too..erm..raw..
so they replaced it with another sculpture..a rather blah one..
she's some woman with an ugly husband and had affairs with almost every other male on mount olympia..hah..
why did she marry that guy in the first place?
im surprised the greeks worship her..
in modern days, she would have died of aids or STDs..

at the end of the visit, i concluded- homosexuality originated from greece..seriously..almost all the guys were gay, including their gods!!
ok..that wasn't the only thing i learnt..
the greek sculptors are really precise..there's this sculpture of this woman rising from a river, and although the sculpture was made of marble, it really looked like someone draped a wet cloth on the woman..! it's that good!
aiya..i forgot to take a foto of that one..i was too fascinated..

you should go look at the stuff yourself..
it's actually pretty interesting esp if you've got background knowledge about it..
despite how illogical the myths are..haha..
(:
