I went back to Indonesia during the long long wkend..
I actually go back quite freqently, so most of the pix are on food..
the food there is awesome!! here's some of my faves..
On the first morning, we had lontong for breakfast..
i've been gg to that same lontong stall ever since i could see..
so the auntie there practically saw me growing up from that rolly polly to what i am now..haha..

it's actually very different from what u could find in SGP.
the usual stuff u see in ur lontong is cabbage, bt there isn't cabbage in there..
see if u could make out the main ingredient..heheh..u will never guess..
it's jackfruit! not the kind that u eat as a fruit, bt the kind when it's still un-ripe..and they cook it as a veggie..
i used to hate it when i was younger..bt i lurrrrve it now..
and i satisfied my 3mth long craving then!

now! this is sth that u might find familiar..
there isn't anymore AnW outlets in SGP..
bt, the food there is slightly diff..they have chickie soup! it's really good..
and the chilli there is unbelievably tasty..
it's not the kind of chilli that u find in mac's..which doesn't taste spicy at all..
haha..this is also another one of my fave places there..
and what is a trip to Indonesia w/o SEAFOOD?! btw, the one above is a real life crayfish and a starfish!
this, is what i call a crab..
Those in SGP are just hermit crabs compared to this..hahaha..
This is another place which i've been gg to since i was a baby..
the funny thing is that all the pple working there, are still there!
hahaha..the only diff is that they have aged..
they used to have life sotongs there..i rmb when i was in pri sch, my mom and i kena scolding cos we played with the sotongs and they were in a "life threatening" situation by sqirting their black ink..hahaha...
we had this for supper..it's called marthabak in indonesia, and min jiam gue in SGP..it's those u can find in those soya bean shops only that this is much better..there's chocolate, cheese, and peanuts in there..together with it's crispy outside, mmm..it's just sinful..hahaha...
This is my ultimate fave restaurant there! this is something like prawn noodles + tom yum goong..it's super delicious..i make my dad drive me there everytime i go back..hahaha..
oh..we also celebrated momsie's bdae there today!

Oh..we also went for sunday service..this is my dad with his cell group singing on stage to commemorate jesus's return 3 days after his death..
yeah..my first Easter egg..hahaha..
Although this church isn't as grand as the churches in SGP, and it's small, it really feels like a big family cos everybody knows everybody..
even the pastor speaks to you..
ok..random foto..my mom sleeping in the living room..haha..
btw, my dad wants me to advertise the house..cos' we only stay there when we go back, my dad stays somewhere else..
so if anyone needs accomodation, pls call me..it's available for rent..
it's actually a pretty quiet place, it's atop a hill, with security guards..so it's really safe..even transport can be easily arranged..
You might also find this familiar cos they breadtalk just brought this franchise over to Singapore..i think in city link..
This is what i call doughnuts..
Some doughnuts that are deemed nice in Singapore has such a strong sweet smell that overwhelms me and i feel like puking..
but J.Co doesn't! i haven't tried the ones in SGP, bt my dad says the ones in Batam is nicer..i don't know how they do it..
the doughnut is slightly crispy on the outside, yet really soft and moist on the inside..not to mention the topping and the price..i bought 12 doughnuts for $7.Cheap?? wahaha..that explains why all the Singaporeans flock there to buy it..
i saw this guy who was carrying 6boxes of the 1dozen box..heh..free ah?
I dun understand why people are so afraid of going to Indonesia..
they tell me that it's chaotic, but i've never experienced strikes or riots there at all! not even during the 1990s when it's really chaoti in Jakarta..
bt Batam is really safe..it's actually a pleasant place to have a hol!
the resorts there are a 100000000000 times better than those i've stayed in SGP..
the beaches there are loads more beautiful..and the spas there are really cheap and good too!
oh..and the exchange rate now is beneficial for shopping..i bought loads of T-shirts..
guess what..i saw clothes selling at $10 at bugis in shopping centres there..it's selling at $3! and that's before the 20% discount!!
i will never buy T-shirts from bugis ever again!
oh..btw, the GST in indonesia is 11%..and here we are complaining when our GST is 7%..haha..bt my dad says that the only diff is that in SGP, the govt collets GST from all sectors, bt in indonesia, they only collect GST from big companies like hotels..maybe that's why..hmm..
anyway..my stpid router chose to break down..urgh..
so my wireless is down..won't be online for quite some time..hahaha..xianz..
